For this pop quiz, I focused my experimentation on what glitch effects could be procured with particular file types, and variations of glitch on certain images that have had the same in-app edit applied multiple times. For example -
These are the three AI I generated for a previous quiz that I chose to mutilate here. I felt they were a fair mix of the bold, bright colors and designs that I seek to work with in my body of work.
I quickly realized that PNG files were not compatible with glitching on Windows, as it would result in the blackout you see in image one. Upon converting the DALL-E images to JPG, however, I created several iterations of the "barring" seen in photos 2 and 3. This was procured by deleting massive paragraphs of code and replacing them with lyrics to The Handsome Family songs, a country group that tells narrative-nonsense stories capturing the lawless spirit that is the American West.
After applying the same lyrical lawlessness to another one of my DALL-E images, I discovered that the text-glitching mechanism was, in fact, a fan of sick bars, and was very much compliant with being ruined by the American West. On the left is the original.
I suspect the amount of color inherently present in my AI images affects the colors of bars produced - or at least, leads to more eccentric, vivid colorations. So, I decided to use this image to experiment with Audacity. Below are the results of me applying the same "Echo" effect to the large-breasted party wolf to increasing degrees of glitch.
When I tell you that I am OBSESSED with how deepfried this became, believe me. I love how my party wolf looks like she's losing a fight with rave lights. In fact, I love the increasing horror of her being glitched out so much, I added another layer of destruction just for fun: layering a glitching filter to animate the carnage! Enjoy this little vid of her being accompanied by experimental electronic punk music group, Machine Girl:
And just for funsies, I wreaked similar havoc on the neon pink demon and horned avant-garde fae:
I am both terrified and enthralled. I would love to create costumes out of these glitched versions!
